Morris F. DeCastro Fellowship

– up to $45,000 per one year

Applies to active Virgin Islands Government Employees ONLY

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Be a bona-fie resident of the Virgin Islands

2, be an employee or offical in active service of the Government of the Virgin Islands at the time of application.

3. Have made an oustanding contribution during the preceding year.

4. Be accepted by an Institution of higher learning.

5. Be nominated by either the Governor of the Virgin Islands, President of the Legislature, the Presiding Judge of the District/Superior/Supreme Courts, The Administrator of St. John or the head of the applicant's department.

Number of Fellowship

One for the District of St. Thomas-St. John.

One for the District of St. Croix.

Duration of Fellowship: One (1) year.

Value of Fellowship

Recipients of this fellowship shall receive in addition to their regular salary, no less than 50 per cent of the Loan-Grant. the Loan-Grant shall be in the form of a loan evidenced by a Promissory Agreement Note and bearing interest at six (6%) percent per annum.
