Board of Education

Oswin A. Sewer, Sr. is the At-Large member of the 16th Virgin Islands Board of Education. He is a Co-Chair of the Professional Staff and Higher Education School Certification Committee.
Mr. Sewer is a retired Virgin Islands Public School educator who has taught for some thirty years at Addelita Cancryn Jr. High School on St. Thomas and the Julius E. Sprauve on St. John. He served as Vice President of the St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers for twenty-eight years.
Mr. Sewer was a member on several AFT Contract Negotiation Teams. Mr. Sewer is a product of the Virgin Islands Public School System. He attended the Julius E. Sprauve Elementary School on St. John and graduated in 1965 from the Charlotte Amalie High School on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He obtained a BA degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD and a Masters in Education from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Mr. Sewer is presently employed at the Gallows Point Resort in Cruz Bay, St. John. He is a member of the Virgin Islands Humanities Council, the Virgin Islands Lottery Commission and is a member of the St. John Cultural Dancers.
Oswin A. Sewer, Sr. is married to Laurel Hewitt-Sewer. She is a Family and Consumer Educator at the BCB Middle School in St. Thomas and a part-time Early Childhood Instructor at the University of The Virgin Islands.
Mr. Sewer is the father of four (One daughter, and three sons).
